An exhibition featuring Hong Kong's architectural art at last year's International Architecture Exhibition of Venice Biennale was remounted and launched here Saturday.
The Hong Kong Institute of Architects and Hong Kong Arts Development Council jointly presented a show entitled Fabrica Cultura: Hong Kong in Venice at the 11th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice Biennale which was held in September 2008 in Venice.
The show was remounted as a response exhibition, Remaking Hong Kong: Architecture, to enable the public to view the distinctive artworks created by a group of local architects, designers, photographers, critics and artists.
Featuring the works of 12 teams of professionals according to the six sub-themes including object, building, landscape, city, media and text, the response exhibition aims to present the ideas that would contribute to the advancement of architecture as an art form as well as an exemplary creative industry for the building and development of Hong Kong.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Saturday, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong Rita Lau said the government would set up a dedicated office, Creative Hong Kong, and earmarked an additional 300 million HK dollars (about 38.5 million U.S. dollars) to promote creative industry development.
Starting 2006, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and Hong Kong Arts Development Council have jointly presented Hong Kong's exhibition at the Venice biennale to showcase Hong Kong's architectural art and design, as well as the unique inspirations and creative concepts that built Hong Kong's culture, economy and geographical environment.
The response exhibition will last until April 29.
