They range in age from the late Han Dynasty in the 2nd century, to the Qing Dynasty about a hundred years ago. There are porcelain urns, heavy iron pots, swords, and some 40 Weiqi pieces from the Song Dynasty about a thousand years ago.
Archeologists says it's the first time Song Dynasty Weiqi pieces have been discovered in southwestern China. They were found in the wells and canals at the construction site. Chengdu has been a major urban center in Sichuan since the Han Dynasty some two thousand years ago.
