Twelve bronze sculptures reproduced from the looted relics auctioned by Christie in Paris are on display in Guangzhou now.
The public can appreciate the art pieces free of charge at the Chime-long Hotel in Panyu of southern Guangzhou until May 16.
It took four year for the Beijing-based Yuanmingyuan Imperial Summer Palace to finish these artworks, based on the archive, photos and copperplate paintings in the Forbidden Palace in Beijing.
They are to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the real models which were rooted by the Anglo-French allied forces during the Second Opium War in 1860.
The statues with animal heads and human bodies represent the twelve Chinese zodiac animals. They sit resembling human and hold something on their hands.
