Shenyang to Loan Antiques to Taipei

Part of the Shenyang Palace Museum collection will go on display at Taipei Palace Museum. The deal to loan the pieces is the first step in a cooperation agreement worked out by the two museums.
The Shenyang Palace Museum was the former imperial palace of the early Qing Dynasty before it moved its capital to Beijing. The first two Qing emperors lived there from 1625 to 1644. It is one of two imperial construction complexes that exist in China.
The palace was converted into a museum after 1955. Much of its collection are articles of daily use and weapons dating to the founding of the Qing Dynasty. These antiques have caught the interest of the Taipei Palace Museum. And after several rounds of consultation, the Shenyang Palace Museum approved of the idea of sending some of the precious items to be shown in Taipei.
It is a further development in cross-strait cultural exchanges following the Beijing Palace Museum's agreement to loan 17 pieces of art to the Taipei Palace Museum this autumn.
From exhibitions, research and the protection and restoration of antiques, more exchanges and further cooperation are being called for among the three palace museums, which share the same roots.
