Spark is a bold new competition signifying a unique crossroads in design, where the interests of all participants in the community are represented, and their strengths brought to bear. Spark leaps beyond the mid-century view of design; in this new world, how do the best ideas and best designs gain recognition? The SparkAwards validates superlative designs from professionals, but we also hope to recognize the best novice designers and innovators too. The world is now participating in design – let's enable its most talented to rise to the top.

Spark is about change - 'designed' change for the better, which is studied, researched and cognizant of criteria like sustainability, suitability, context, inventiveness, process, universality—and yes, beauty.

As the first Spark visit to mainland China, the exhibit is now being held at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts until May 10. The exhibition features about 80 top pieces selected from the last two competitions.
