China's Top Political Advisor Vsits Show of Chinese Painting Master's Works

China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin visited a show of paintings by Li Keran (1907-1989), one of the best-known Chinese artists.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, was accompanied by Politburo member and Beijing's Party chief Liu Qi and CPPCC National Committee's secretary-general Qian Yunlu.
All the works on display at the exhibition, in the Beijing Fine Art Academy, are donations from Li's family members including his widow Zou Peizhu.
The exhibits include 108 Chinese paintings and 13 water-and-color paintings by the artist. And these are only part of the family's donations to the Municipal Government of Beijing.
Li, a native of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, east China, began studying the traditional Chinese painting at 13. He is known as a great master in painting mountains and water.
He was a member of the 5th, 6th and 7th CPPCC National Committees.
