On the purpose of integrating the art of of Southeast Asia area with the international art circles, reinforcing the art collection and promoting the public appreciation of art, the first and second round of Malaysia's International Art Expo has been successfully held at Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC) in Kuala Lumpur.

The International Art Expo Malaysia 2009 will hold at Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC) in Kuala Lumpur from 19/11/2009 to 23/11/2009 . Based on the first two years’ success,it will invent new artstic projects and provide new policies:

Focus on the Contemporary Gallery and Artworks of Southeast Asia

The spring of the Asian contemporary art has made the contemporary art of Southeast Asia more remarkable now.Various large art auction houses,including Christie’s and Sotheby’s, have established the special auction of “Contemporary Art of Southeast Asia” in succession, which shows that the contemporary art market of southeast asia is expanding gradually. Sim Tiak Choo, Vincent ,The chairman of the International Art Expo Malaysia reveals: According to the current situation of art market,the 3ed International Art Expo Malaysia 2009 will take more focus on the promotion of contemporary art and lower the threshold for the galleries of southeast asia,including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Phlippines, Vietnam, Myanmar and etc. Besides, with the porfessional galleries’ operation mode as standard, the 3ed International Art Expo Malaysia 2009 will sift through the applications very carefully in order to raise the overall quality of the fair and to make more beneficial for collectors.

Strengthen the Understanding of New Media Art

People in China，South Korea, Japan, European and America are familiar with New Media Art through exhibitons and other channels. However, it is just coming to the elementary stage for collectors and art aficionadoes of Southeast Asia. Therefore, Art Expo Malaysia 2009 will set up a display area for new media art in order to promote the collectors from the initial understanding to appreciation and collecton gradually.

Change Art from a Noun into a Verb

For the art lovers, the art appreciation is most confined to looking art works in galleries and museums,which belongs to spiritual activities. In order to break the traditional ideological framework,this year, Art Expo Malaysia 2009 is planning to organize interactice non-profit activities. Through the public participation, such series of activities will change art from a noun into a verb.

Establish the Masters Section of Malaysia

Continuing the philosophy of the first and second year,Art Expo Malaysia 2009 will establish the masters section of Malaysia to praise the senior artist who make great contributions for the art world of Malaysia.Besides,the general will also display the works from the retarded children to emphasize the importance of artistic creation to the disadvantaged groups and the social strata as well.
