An exchange between Beijing Palace Museum and Taipei Palace Museum earlier this year pushed forward cross-strait exchanges in the field of relics. But exchanges across the strait in this field have happened for more than a decade, according to a journal published in Taiwan.
The Palace Museum Monthly has been issued in Taiwan for 26 years. From the 1990s it began to publish essays penned by mainland experts and scholars. A painting by Chen Xiejun, the director of the Shanghai Museum, graced the cover of the journal's first edition this year. The Palace Museum Monthly features rich pictures, documents and research papers about the relics of the Taipei Palace Museum, and has been popular among collectors and relic lovers on both the mainland and in Taiwan. The number of collectors of the journal has increased as the collection of relics has grown.
