An exhibition of sculpted wooden artifacts have attracted hundreds of connoisseurs of creative arts at Bhopal in central India.
O P Kushwaha, a renowned wood and rock sculptor, crafted these beautiful artifacts. His artistic talent has earned him numerous awards and commendations.
There were sculptures depicting Hindu Gods, Jesus Christ holding a cross and walking, people offering prayers at Mecca, and many other creations depicting the highest degree of craftsmanship on wood.
O P Kushwaha said, "There are many people who can make paintings on canvas. There are students of fine arts and other people who are involved in canvas paintings but they will not sculpt or paint on wood. These artifacts can last for around 1,000 years since they are made on the wood of Saguan, a teak tree."
Visitors said they were amazed to see excellence in carving and finishing on a medium that could simply be seen as wood for the rest of the world. The week-long exhibition ended on Monday.
