Dutch Return Looted Iraqi Artifacts

The Netherlands has returned to Iraq 69 artifacts that were looted after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
According to estimates, some 15,000 pieces were stolen from the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad after the invasion, many of which have since shown up in the international art market. After Interpol revealed that the 69 items in question had been looted, Dutch art dealers gave them up for return to Iraq. One of the pieces was a terracotta relief of a bearded man praying, which is said to be more than 2,000 years old. The artifacts will be displayed at the Dutch National Museum of Antiquities until they can be returned to the Iraqi National Museum.
