San Mao is not only a typical comic figure, but one of important historical and cultural symbols of Shanghai city. When Zhang Leping, a famous cartoonist ,created San Mao before 74 years, Shanghai Library has provided a variety of materials for him.

July 28 is San Mao's birthday and  Zhang Leping's children donated Zhang Leping's San Mao sketches and drafts to Shanghai Library yesterday.

It is reported that the donation includes the cover design draft and sketch of the book "Stories of San Mao' straying", art fonts for San Mao's life show in April 1949 and the original draft of San Mao's last edition—"San Mao studies the law".
