Dance in Dream – Zhao Gang Solo Exhibition will be inaugurated on September 5, 2009, at Triumph Art Space in 798.

“Totally different”, so will most people think upon their first sight on Zhao Gang’s paintings. His paintings are like doodles, with natural and simple strokes, not to cater for present art market, but to depict his own life. Art is an amusement for him. Political and historical events during the Cultural Revolution are always well-kept in his art memory, while Love and Sex is also metaphorically represented in his works. The artist always has segmental memory of life at hand, syncretizing real life and memory in his seemingly random art creation. It renders his narrative unique personal style, instead of being similar to others’. No specific symbolic language but deep love for his motherland is saturated in his works. No complex concept, but appeal to viewers.

This exhibition is both retrospective and systematic, presenting Zhao Gang’s paintings to viewers who can rarely see his works in mainland China.
