India will hold a six-week arts festival in South Africa from Sept. 5, during which Wazwan cuisine of Kashmir, a retrospective of films starring Shabana Azmi and a literary festival featuring modern woman writer Shobha De will be among the highlights, reported the Indo-Asian News Service on Sunday.
This will be the third edition of the Shared Histories Festival India stages in South Africa, which will also mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the South African Indian dance company Tribhangi Dance Theatre in Johannesburg, known for fusing Indian and African dance forms, said the report.
The activity will also include youth workshops between Indian and South African non-government organizations, to be participated by 13 South African yoga schools and an Ayurvedic traditional Indian medical conference with doctors from India.
Music and dance performances by celebrated Indian artists, including flautist Pundit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Odissi group Nrityagram, and the Daksha Seth Dance Company, will also take place.
