Hitler Watercolors Hit the Block

A series of three paintings by Adolf Hitler will be sold on September 5 at Nuremberg’s Weidler auction house. Bidding for the three signed watercolors, made in 1910 and 1911, will begin at €3,000 ($4,270).
Hitler’s paintings have drawn in money before: In 2006, 21 of his works sold for £118,000 ($171,000) in Britain, and in April, a private collector bought two more signed watercolors from the same Nuremberg house for €32,000. In life, the Nazi dictator made money off of his art before his rise to power: Rejected from art school, he often copied scenes from postcards and sold the resulting paintings to tourists.
