In recent years, Deqen Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province has put heavy labour force and financial funds on traditional Thangka Arts protection.

Funded with more than 20 million yuan, a King Gesar Thangka exhibition is held successfully in Shangri-La.

The works are made by 200 experienced Thangka artists.

The exhibition tells the story of the Tibetan legend King Gesar with 1,288 pieces of works. The exhibition is considered as another new cultural spot in Shangri-La.
