In a digital age when you can visit the library on your cell phone, digitally reproduced masterworks are bound to be worth a look. In Northeast China's Dalian city, an exhibition has opened to display some high-quality reproductions of some of the worlds most famous works of art. Let's take a look and see if we can tell the difference.
The exhibition is housed at the Dalian Municipal Library. On display are 500 reproductions of world famous paintings. Creators of the originals include Western masters like Leonard Da Vinci and Chinese ancients like Fan Kuan, Guo Xi, and Li Tang. The works include "Traveling Along the Mountain River", "Landscape of Early Spring", and "Pine Trees Overlooking the Abyss".
All the items on display were reproduced from the originals using tried-and-true photocopying technology developed in Germany. The reproduction was completed with assistance from renowned institutions like the Louvre in Paris and Palace Museum in Beijing. For each piece of art, only three-thousand copies were produced. They are available to the general public at prices ranging from less than 200 yuan to about 30-thousand.
