In the United States, New York City has hosted the opening of the Museum of Chinese in America. The occasion was attended by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

At last Tuesday's opening ceremony, Bloomberg spoke highly of the role that the city's Chinese residents have played in building the community. The Museum of Chinese in America is dedicated to preserving and presenting the history and culture of people of Chinese descent in the United States.

Among the items on display at the venues are works of fine arts and calligraphy, porcelain, and various handicrafts. Also available is historical video footage recording the contributions of outstanding Chinese individuals.
