The first joint exhibition by the Palace Museums of Beijing and Taipei has seen a steady flow of tourists since opening last week. Museum goers in Taipei who've seen the splendor of the Qing civilization are asking for more of the same.
"Harmony and Integrity, Emperor Yong Zheng and His Times." 37 of the sets of relics are on loan from the Beijing Palace Museum. They make a perfect supplement to the two-hundred plus from Taipei. The goal is to provide a complete narrative of the life, administration, and achievements in art and culture of the Yong Zheng Emperor.
And public response has been enthusiastic.
A museum visitor said, "The exhibition has really opened my mind to a bygone era. Besides, the joint exhibition has pooled the resources to present of a panorama. This mode of cooperation benefits all of us."
An academic seminar on the significance of the exhibition is scheduled in November, with cultural celebrities and experts from across the Strait.
The exhibition will run for until January 10th, 2010.
