Chinese Exhibits Show Timeless Heritage

There are three exhibitions showing at the Frankfurt Public Library. One is photos of World Heritages in China, and two deal with traditional woodblock prints and papercuts.
"World Heritage in China" showcases 37 magnificent Chinese landscapes and cultural sites. The Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, and the Terracotta Warriors are included, as well as the Hakka Earth Building in Fujian Province also a wonder of Chinese architecture.
The "Chinese Traditional Watercolor Woodblock Printings Exhibition" brings 48 replicas of masterpieces created by prestigious Chinese painters such as Xu Beihong and Zhang Daqian. Chinese block printing is considered a landmark creation in human civilization. It appeared in the Sui and Tang Dynasties and has a history of 13-hundred years. Watercolor woodblock printing handicraft represents the ancient Oriental printing culture and is considered a "living cultural relic". It was classified on the first "China State Intangible Cultural Heritage" list in 2006. Visitors are welcomed to practice the ingenious technology themselves.
"The Exhibition of China Papercutting Art" displays more than 120 papercut works from Zhongyang, in North China's Shanxi Province. Zhongyang Papercuts have a history of over 2000 years, and the folk art is exemplary in representing traditional customs along the Yellow River. Back in 2007, the art was listed as a "China State Intangible Cultural Heritage".
The Frankfurt Public Library is one of the biggest libraries in the city. It is estimated that tens of thousands of local people will come and enjoy the exhibitions.
