An exhibition showcasing contemporary art through a feminine perspective and approach opened in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province. The international show was held to mark International Women's Day on March 8th.

More than 160 works by 80 female artists from around the world occupy the 15 hundred square meter exhibition area.

They employ a wide range of mediums, including paintings, sculptures, installations and video art to interpret their understanding of contemporary art.

Liang Ping, Chinese artist, said, "I use flower to symbolize my expression. The multiple colors reveal people's love of nature, life and art. It also illustrates the varied roles women play in today's society as well as their different states of mind."

A large number of visitors came to the exhibition. They say the drastically different styles provide a peek into the elegance and passion of female artists. The exhibition will run at the Luodai, an ancient town in suburban Chengdu until April 7th, and is free of charge.
