The Taiwan people will soon get a glimpse of Tibetan arts and culture with an upcoming exhibition from the mainland, co-organized by China Society for Tibetan Culture Protection and Development, China Cultural Heritage Exchange Center (CCHEC), and the Tibetan autonomous region cultural heritage bureau.
The exhibition features 130 sets of precious Tibetan cultural relics, ranging from Tibetan tangka, bronze statues, Buddhist ritual implements, Tibetan Opera props and costumes, to jade seals, small-sized pagodas, daily objects, old books, porcelain works, and documents illustrating the close historical links between Tibet and the central government, according to CCHEC deputy director Yang Yang.
The exhibition, previously held in five Japanese cities to wide acclaim, will run from early July to early October at the Palace Museum Taipei, and then from early October to late January 2011 at the Kaohsiung Museum of Science and Technology.
One third of the exhibits are top-ranked cultural relics under State protection.
