Guggenheim - Hugo Boss Prize Nominees Garner Accolades

In October 2009, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and HUGO BOSS announced the six artists short-listed for THE HUGO BOSS PRIZE 2010. Since then, each of the nominees has garnered further accolades and been featured in institutional exhibitions around the world.

• Cao Fei’s work is currently on view in the 17th Biennale of Sydney (May 12–August 1, 2010) and The Nature of Cities at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 (July 4–31, 2010). She was also nominated for the Future Generation Art Prize 2010.

• Hans-Peter Feldmann has recently been honored with solo shows at Malmö Konsthall, Sweden (February 20–May 2, 2010), and Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (June 19–August 22, 2010), and he was nominated for the 2010 Rencontres d’Arles Discovery Award.

• Natascha Sadr Haghighian presented a solo show, Fruits of One’s Labor, at Ludlow 38, New York, a downtown satellite of the Goethe-Institut New York (July 7–August 15, 2010), and her work was included in The Luminous West at Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany (July 10–October 23, 2010).

• Roman Ondák was included in the 6th Berlin Biennale (June 11–August 8, 2010), and his work is currently the subject of a major solo exhibition, Shaking Horizon, at Villa Arson National Contemporary Art Centre, Nice, France (July 2–October 17, 2010).

• Walid Raad was named one of six inaugural residents of Creative Time’s Global Residency Program in New York, and he will be a participant in Media City Seoul 2010 at the Seoul Museum of Art (September 7–November 17, 2010). His work was featured in La Revanche de l'Archive Photographique at Centre de la Photographie, Geneva (June 4–July 31, 2010).

• Apichatpong Weerasethakul was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival for his feature film, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. He also won the inaugural Asia Art Award, presented by the Soma Museum of Art, Seoul. Along with fellow nominee Walid Raad, he was announced as a participant in Media City Seoul 2010 at the Seoul Museum of Art.

THE HUGO BOSS PRIZE 2010 will be awarded on November 4, and a solo exhibition by the winning artist will be presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2011.
