Commenting on this auction series, Mr. Kevin Ching, Chief Executive Officer, Sotheby’s Asia, says, “Our spring sales in April achieved the highest total ever for a sale series at Sotheby's Hong Kong. This phenomenal result, coupled with the record totals achieved in many individual collecting categories, is a testament to our success and expertise in providing our clients with the best and the most distinctive works from around the world. This autumn, we will again present a magnificent array of private collections with mpeccable provenance, offering yet another opportunity for collectors worldwide to acquire the finest and rarest objects. Highlights include masterpieces of Qing Imperial porcelain from the legendary collection of J.T. Tai as well as outstanding collections of modern Chinese ink paintings and contemporary Chinese art.
“We are also honoured to be presenting Treasures of the Century, a special exhibition celebrating the legacy of 20th Century Chinese artists, alongside the autumn auctions. This is the first time that Sotheby's Hong Kong has organised an exhibition dedicated to the preeminent modern Chinese artists. I would like to give my heartfelt gratitude to all the collectors who generously lent from their private collections for this exhibition, which I believe will be very exciting for both new and seasoned collectors as well as all art lovers.”
