王濛说她一直记得2002年初次到北京参加国家队集训的那段日子，但是让当年17岁的她印象深刻的并不仅仅是国家队高质量的训练，还有弥漫在首体的紧张气氛，“零”的突破压得每个人似乎都无法呼吸。一直到2002年2月16日，大杨扬在盐湖城为中国体育代表团获得在冬奥会历史上的第一枚金牌。

　　在盐湖城，大杨扬哭了，因为她之前经历过太多的遗憾和失望，在温哥华，王濛也哭了，因为她终于得到了她梦想了四年的“大满贯”。21岁时，王濛说她的目标是在冬奥会上获得四枚金牌，人们只当是年轻人的张扬和自傲，四年后，25岁的王濛不说目标，因为她知道她距离这个目标已经如此的切近。

　　温哥华当地时间，2月17日，王濛在本届冬奥会短道速滑女子500米决赛中，以较大优势毫无悬念地夺得冠军，她不仅实现了蝉联，同时帮助中国队创造了在该项目的三连冠;2月20日，短道速滑女子1500米决赛中，唯一进入决赛的中国选手周洋以2分16秒993打破奥运会纪录的成绩夺得冠军，一人战胜三名韩国选手，创造了奇迹;2月24日，王濛又在患上重感冒的情况下，带领周洋、张会和孙琳琳在女子3000米接力决赛中，以破世界纪录的成绩勇夺桂冠，打破了中国短道人18年的梦想坚冰。2月26日，当中国选手王濛以1分29秒213的成绩率先通过短道速滑女子1000米决赛终点线的一刻，中国女子短道队完美谢幕。“祖国就是让我们来拿金牌的，所以我们必须要拿金牌，拿了银牌就是没完成任务。”此时，再没有人觉得王濛张狂。

　　如果说中国短道的辉煌带给人们的是一种震撼，那么中国花样滑冰双人滑带来的更多是感动。人们会一直记得，31岁的申雪和37岁的赵宏博第四次出现在冬奥会双人滑的赛场上，2月15日，这对两年前退役、9个月前复出的冰上伉俪，为中国赢得了征战冬奥赛场30年来的第一枚花样滑冰金牌，这个项目的最高领奖台上46年来第一次没了俄罗斯选手的身影。从1964年起，苏联、独联体和俄罗斯就垄断了双人滑项目，连续摘得12届冬奥会金牌。那天晚上，赵宏博说：“37年等来这块金牌，值!” 这枚姗姗来迟的金牌让梦想在不服输、不认命的申雪和赵宏博手中化为现实。

　　五枚金牌，和金牌之后的无数个动人故事，在温哥华冬奥会，中国代表团留下了深深的烙印。

　　Chapter Two Five Gold Medals

　　Let us trace back to 2002 when 17-year-old Wang Meng just arrived in Beijing to attend the national team’s training. In the first six months, Wang Meng was deeply impressed by the team’s hard training and its longing for a breakthrough in winter sports. To make breakthrough and grab the Olympic gold depressed everyone. It did not change until Yang Yang (A) finally became the first ever gold medalist of China in the Salt Lake City Winter Games on Feb. 16th, 2002.

　　Yang Yang (A) burst into tears in the Salt Lake City because she had lost and regretted many. Wang Meng also burst into tears in Vancouver because she fulfilled the four years longing for “the grand slam”. At the age of 21, Wang Meng vowed to obtain four gold medals and people took her statement merely as the self-pride of the young. Wang Meng has grown four year older and chose to safeguard her dream in her heart because she knew she was so much approaching.

　　On Feb. 17th, Vancouver, Wang Meng’s overwhelming victory in women’s 500m short track defended her title as well as China’s first place for the third time. On Feb. 20th, Vancouver, Zhou Yang was the only one left in the 1,500m finals of ladies’ short track speed skating. Zhou finally breezed to victory in 2 minutes, 16.993 seconds, which made the Olympic record. And she historically beat three Koreans and miraculously sustained China’s victory on women’s short track. On Feb. 24th, Wang Meng caught cold, but still led Zhou Yang, Zhang Hui and Sun Linlin to earn the gold medal of 3,000m relay while making ice-breaking record and realizing the long-lasting dream of Chinese short track skaters. On Feb. 26th, Vancouver, Wang Meng was the first to cross the finish line in 1 minutes, 29.213 seconds in the 1,000m short track finals. Her victory secured the perfect ending of Chinese women’s team of short track. “Our motherland sent us here for the gold, just the gold. Silver is not what we want.”

　　Chinese team of short track realized their dream of speed. As for pair skating, the dream was about love. Zhao Hongbo saved one piece of short message he sent to Ren Hongguo, Deputy Director General of the Chinese Winter Sports Administrative Centre. It said, “We want to go for the Olympics once more. Just try again for our dream.”

　　One year later, 31-year-old Shen Xue and 37-year-old Zhao Hongbo stood on ice for the fourth time in the Winter Games. And this time, they did it and they brought China the first figure skating gold medal since it attended the Winter Olympics three decades ago. The reality was not naturally easy as it sounded like. After all, the Soviet Union, then the CIS and Russia have dominated pair skating since 1964 and they grabbed 12 gold medals in all these years.

　　Eventually, on Feb. 15th, Zhao held his wife tightly. “My 37 years and your 31… We endured and we deserve the gold.”

　　Zhao Hongbo explained it was about love.

　　Maybe every gold medal is about love. Love deeply rooted in the white arena.
