声明在先，这本画册既非体育界众多“腕儿”级人物的集锦，也不是从影40 年的“个人总结”专辑。我的初衷是通过竞技体育拍摄的技法和变化，与业界同行及影友们共同探讨体育摄影的艺术表现形式。

　　体育比赛充满竞争、挑战和刺激，这是它的魅力所在。除此之外，体育运动本身尚有诸多很美的元素：如速度的美、力量的美、造型的美、色彩的美、抽象的美、形体的美、甚至原始的美。这些美的元素与其他的艺术形式相比，不仅毫无逊色，且更具一种独特的动态美感。能否发现这些美并用相机将其展现给读者，便是这些年来我的想法和追求。

　　艺术讲究悟性，摄影同样如此。对体育运动项目的理解与感悟，将决定您体育摄影作品的艺术取向。

　　这本画册，献给所有为体育事业做出贡献和默默奉献的运动员、教练员、体育工作者和摄影工作者。

　　Introduction

　　I should first point out that this collection isn’t the work of some “maestro” of the sporting world, nor is it some form of definitive collection formed that has gradually built up over the years. What I am really attempting is an exploration of artistic expression in the form of sporting photography, with the intention of opening up this field to further discussion amongst both colleagues and photographers alike.

　　Sporting events are filled with the thrill of the competitive struggle, this is where their attraction lies. Apart from this, there are many other areas in which we can find beauty in sport: there is beauty in speed, in strength, in form, in colour, in concept and in shape. When compared to the expression of beauty in other forms of art, not only are these an acceptable mode of expression, in fact they offer even higher levels of expression of movement. As such, this collection at last gives me an opportunity to offer　insight into this unique form of expression and to convey this to you in photographic form.

　　With art, one needs appreciation, photography is the same. Knowledge and love of sport is key to an artistic appreciation of sporting photography.

　　I dedicate this collection to everybody involved in the sporting world.
