Form changes conception
In 1980s, Mr. Wu Guangzhong put out the notion of Form Aesthetics, which caused a discussion about aesthetics throughout the country and stepped up the development of the fine arts, and finally the research on oil painting and traditional Chinese painting came back to the aesthetics. This discussion offer the theory for form and abstract of Chinese art.
Under the background of Chinese academic education system, the university trained a group of artists. They both work for education and become elites in the fine arts. Their work surpass the notion of academy education and at first they accept the traditional education, and then refereed other subjects and contemporary art. After twenty-first century, a new media art education developed in china and it helped to bring up many excellent young artists who active in the fine arts at home and abroad. They are Xu Bing, Ai Weiwei, Song Dong, Zhang Peili, Qiu Zhijie, Guan Huaibing,Yang Fudong, Liu Reng, Ma Qiusha and Xin Yunpeng, whose works beyond Installation Art, Video Art, Interactive Art and Sound Art and so many other fields, open up a new of narrative method of Chinese contemporary art, and expand a wider art context.
In 1988, Zhang Peili created the first experiment video work 30×30, which played a decisive role in the development of video art. And another artist Qiu Zhijie put forward Zhang’s art and art education to the forefront through the way of interdisciplinary, intermedia and the collaboration in experience and interaction.
Since the 1980s, the Chinese film art has made great efforts to people’s humanistic life and the passing and researching of thought, enriched much Chinese people’s life with the step of the Chinese opening-up development, so that this time is an important stage in the processing of Chinese film art. Such as neighbors, the worship of youth, Yellow Earth, Red Sorghum, The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest and so on. From these films we could found that the way of narration and the pictorial language, as well as the vision of the common people have changed. And in the Chinese visual art, reality, form, image, abstract and concept blend and run through thousands years of Chinese cultural history, and accumulated and strong enough to provide the cultural dynamics for today’s creation and appreciation
In the research of experimental film, the research on 2D, 3D film, abstract film and nterdisciplinary film are develop in a comprehensive way. Many people like Miu Xiaochun, Zhang Xiaotao, Gan Xiao’er, Bu Ye, Shen Zhaofang, and Wang Tingting take efforts in exploiting a new field between art and film, and make great significant contribution to the development of NEW MEDIA ART.
