Foreword

The Antarctic is the world’s most southern continent and man’s final frontier. Just like the North Pole it is at the end of the earth. However, it is far remoter than the North Pole as it is separated from all other continents by vast oceans. As it is blanketed by snow it is difficult for us to see the surface. It stands there silently, but is shinier than any earthly jewels. It is more mysterious than a Pandora’s Box. We want to approach it and touch it, to reveal the beauty beneath the snow.
As I entered this vast land, I was immediately overcome by it. I had never seen such a high sky, such pure seawater, seen so many penguins and seals, laid eyes on such gigantic glaciers, and seen such beautiful icebergs. This is the planet’s last frontier, pure, simple, and serene. Faced with such a scene, my words paled in comparison to the beauty. My heart became tranquil, my spirit lifted, and all trivialities disappeared in the wind.
The quantity of life is surprising here. It reminds us that life is both stubborn and persistent. The struggle of life and death is natural. In the beauty of this magical place between man and nature, I found myself again.
The greatness of nature lies in its eternal existence regardless of man. The greatness lies in its ability to protect and provide a home for all life. We may be unable to escape the relentless noise of modern life, yet for a moment, we can share the call of a penguin, the call of nirvana. Let’s protect the Antarctic, you and me, it is our responsibility.
I would like to dedicate this collection of photographs to my wonderful family and friends who love life. I hope you are like me and face life everyday with a broad smile!
