　　The Traces of the Xia and Shang Dynasties explores the peculiar features of the dynasties in the Central Plains as well as the kingdoms in the periphery areas in the Xia (c.2lst-17th century B.C.) and Shang (c.16th-11th century B.C.) Dynasties. The discovery of the well-known Dongxiafeng site convincingly demonstrates that southern Shanxi is one of the central regions of the Xia Dynasty culture. The bronze wares, unearthed from the banks of the Yellow River along Mount Lüliang and characterized by a distinctive grassland flavour, add extraordinary luster to the splendid Shang Dynasty culture.
