苏州科技文化艺术中心位于金鸡湖北岸半岛，与玲珑岛隔水相望。

　　顾名思义，这个中心是传承苏州历史文化、展示苏州现代文明的科文基地。它的建筑面积近十五万平方米，设计者为法国建筑大师保罗?安德鲁。他提出了“一颗珍珠、一段墙壁、一座园林”的集美构想，墙壁和园林好理解，“珍珠”则是指月牙形半岛环抱的湖中“珍珠岩”，他把“三个一”组成一体，于是半岛上出现了美轮美奂的建筑群体，成为古城苏州具有标志性意义的精品工程。由于它的外观特点，被誉为苏州的“鸟巢”。

　　苏州科技文化艺术中心由科技中心、演艺中心、影视中心及商业中心等组成，集文化、娱乐、饮食、观游、休闲等多种功能于一体，内有大剧院、演艺厅、豪华影厅的全景影厅，还有二点五万平方米的商业空间。

　　金鸡湖畔本是风景区，半岛“鸟巢”的落成，宛如湖上瑞莲开放，梧乡有凤来仪，顿时成为游人麇集之地。优美的风光环境，现代的建筑设施，古城的文化魅力，三强联袂，自然名花独秀，顿使半岛“鸟巢”声誉鹊起，名传遐迩，于是有了群星荟萃之夕。2007年，第十六届中国金鸡百花电影节翩然飞临，于此开幕。是夜星光灿烂，苏州“鸟巢”因此享誉艺坛，亮相于全国。

　　“鸟巢”是金鸡湖上的明珠，来园区必游之地，不见识苏州“鸟巢”，美好的回忆里就会有失落的遗憾。

　　Suzhou Science and Cultural Arts Center (SSCAC) is situated on the north bank of the Golden Rooster Lake, facing the Linglong Isle across the waters.

　　As the name itself suggests, the center is a base for promoting Suzhou’s culture and showing its modern achievements. It has a floor area of 0.15 million square meters. Its designer, Paul Andrew, a renowned French architect, came up with a beauty-embracing conception, condensed as “a pearl, a wall and a garden”. The idea of the “pearl” came from the Pearl Rock perching on the crescent-shaped isle amidst the lake. The “trinity” design then became a brilliant complex, a new landmark of Suzhou. Because of its shape, it is dubbed as the “Bird’s Nest” of Suzhou.

　　It consists of a science center, a performance center, a Movie and TV center and a business center, and has such functions as cultural display, entertainment, catering, tourism and leisure. It has grand theatres, performing halls, deluxe cinemas and panoramic cinemas and a vast commercial area of 25,000 square meters.

　　Upon its completion, the center, like a blooming lotus flower on the lake, became an immediate attraction. With a triad of beautiful landscape, modern facilities and the city’s cultural charm, the fame of the center has reached afar. In 2007, the 16th China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival was held in the center. So many shining stars gathered here and then the Bird’s Nest was known by the whole country.

　　The center is a pearl on the lake, and a view any visitor to the SIP should not miss. Without even a glimpse of it, your memory about the SIP would not be complete.
