第四届世界城市论坛今天要闭幕了。经过与会代表和各方的努力，论坛顺利完成了各项议程，取得了丰硕成果。我代表江苏省人民政府对来自世界175个国家和地区的专家、学者和城市管理者表示感谢。围绕“和谐的城镇化”这一主题，各抒己见，广泛探讨建设和谐城镇的理念，总结成功经验。论坛通过和发表了包括南京倡议书在内的主题报告，强调尊重自然和保护环境，关注区域均衡与社会公平，尊重历史文化遗产，并且向全世界发出了“和谐城镇化体现我们共同的价值，实现和谐城镇化需要我们共同的行动”的倡议。这是本届论坛给新时期城市发展带来的宝贵财富。城镇化是国家经济社会发展的大趋势，已经成为衡量一个国家或者地区，最具实力和竞争力的重要标志。本届论坛的成功举办，使江苏人民对城镇和谐发展有了更加深刻的认识，也必将激励我们深入研究，解决城市发展面临的城市人口、资源、环境问题，大力推动城市经济结构升级和发展方向的转变，进一步改善人居环境，努力构建社会和谐、经济繁荣、文化多元、生态友好的理想家园，为共创世界美好的明天作出积极的贡献。

　　Closing Marks by Vice Governor He Quan of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province

　　Today the Fourth Session of the World Urban Forum is going to conclude. Thanks to the efforts of all participants of the Forum and all parties concerned, we have completed the agenda successfully with plentiful and substantial results made. Here, in the name of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, I would like to extend our appreciation to the experts, scholars and city administrators coming from 175 countries and regions. Surrounding the theme of “Harmonious Urbanization”, the participants gave their opinions, discussed the concept of building harmonious cities and towns extensively and summed up successful experience. The Forum passed and publicized the theme report including Nanjing Proposal, which stresses on respecting the nature and protecting environment, pays attention to regional balance and social equity, and respects historical and cultural heritage. Furthermore, it was proposed in the Forum to the world that “Harmonious urbanization embodies our common value and to realize it needs our joint action.” This is a treasure the Forum has contributed to the urban development in the new era. Urbanization is the huge trend for economic and social development. It has become an important means to measure one country or region's strength and competitiveness. The successful holding of this Forum has enhanced Jiangsu people's perception of harmonious urbanization and will surely encourage us to make more studies in resolving the problems of urban population, resources, and environment facing the urban development, vigorously push forward upgrading urban economic structure and transferring the development direction, further improving the human habitat and strive to build an ideal “HOME” (Harmony, Opulence, Multi-culture, and Eco-environment) , thus contributing to the creation of a more wonderful world!
