Speaking of the sale, Evelyn Lin, Sotheby’s Head of Contemporary Asian Art, says: “This evening’s sale of Contemporary Asian Art, which offered seminal works by key artists, achieved HK$182,911,500 / US$23,450,192 and set a record for a work from Zhang Xiaogang’s “Bloodline” Series and also set a record for Li Songsong. The sale saw strong international participation and had a high sold-by-lot percentage, easily exceeding its pre-sale high estimates (Est. HK$154 million / US$19.7 million). Together with last evening’s sale total for The Ullens Collection (HK$ 427,239,250 / US$54,774,263), Sotheby’s two-day sale total for Contemporary Asian Art is HK$610,150,750 / US$78,224,455.”
