Fu Chun Lai was one of the main founders of the Chinese photography council. He graduated from the photography class of the Arts Department in Wu Han University. In early years he worked in the People's Art Museum of Jilin City and social culture department of the Chinese Culture Ministry. In the 1980s, he joined the council of Chinese Photography, then in 2009 he started his career as the director of the photography/film center in White Box Museum of Art. With a spirit to create a realistic documentary, he presents us the original value and concepts of the Chinese contemporary art. This idea leads his project of "The Portraits of A Hundred Contemporary Artists", which started in 2009, and he has photographed more than 130 contemporary artists, curators, critics, and managers of art organizations so far. His lenses documented the spirituality of Chinese contemporary artists under the global economic depression. This very precious set of "The Portraits of A Hundred Contemporary Artists" has been officially in roll for the 2011 l'Ile De La Reunion Biennale's special exhibition project.

"The Portraits of A Hundred Contemporary Artists" is a very important project both for White Box Museum of Art and Fu Chun Lai, of which they forge this piece of work with all their heart. As the first exhibition of "The Portraits of A Hundred Contemporary Artists", "Face Book • Fu Chun Lai's Solo Photography Show" will exhibit about 50 portraits of the personals from the art circle. The photographer tries to reveal the psychological conditions of the figure through photojournalism and genealogy methods. Fu Chun Lai’s works uses the method of portray remodeling to understand and discover the value and the meanings of contemporary art. Maybe, as a matter of fact, everything has just begun.
