In memory of the centennial birth anniversary of Ren Shuaiying, sponsored by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Ministry of Culture, a retrospective exhibition is unveiled at the National Art Museum of China to showcase the artworks by Ren Shuaiying.

A number of his masterpieces in different periods have been donated to the nation and will be collected by the National Art Museum of China. Included are a series of 16 colorful comic books named “Peach blossom fan” and 24 pieces of excellent artworks.

Ren Shuaiying (1911——1989), celebrated artist in China’s modern and contemporary history, was dedicated himself to creation and development in various fields including realistic paintings, comic books and Chinese New Year paintings. The artist shouldered responsibility of carrying forward the nation’s traditional culture and art and brought aesthetic appreciation to the masses. The artist made great contribution to development of China’s comic books and Chinese New Year pictures.

The exhibition showcases a total of nearly 200 artworks covering a wide range of categories including traditional Chinese paintings, Chinese New Year pictures, comic books and creation sketches created by the artist from the 1930s to the late 1980s.

The masterpieces by the artists have been published time again and again even after he passed away. The artist has left precious artistic legacy to the masses and passionate and innovative spirit.

The exhibition is hoped to open at Hall 1 and 9 until May. 16.
