Liang Long's Solo Exhibition 'Drop Around' held at Beijing Art Now Gallery, 3 P.M. June 18.

June 18 (Artron.net) – A famous Chinese underground band Second Hand Rose Vocal Liang Long’s first solo exhibition “Drop Around” which curated by his manager Huang Liaoyuan held at Beijing Art Now gallery, Caochangdi, Beijing. This exhibition displayed Liang Long’s recent series of works consisting of eight multi-media pieces entitled Emergency Exit; Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Jigsaw; Deletion of Memory, Deletion of Time, Deletion of Phantom and Palace; deal with the issue of existence on many levels.

Mr. Liang Long was born in 1977 in Qiqihaer, Heilongjiang Province. From childhood he has liked music and pretty women.

When he was in junior highschool he first encountered Rock & Roll and began to try writing music.

In 1999 he came to Beijing twice but to no avail, he then returned to the Harbin countryside and founded the band “Second hand Rose”.

That same year he also first encountered contemporary art.

In 2000 he came to Beijing for the third time, bringing his “Second hand Rose”, and has attempted to “elevate and edify” to this day.

In 2007 he began creating art--“it is the other way to express myself besides music”.

At the beginning of 2011 he held a concert in Beijing entitled “Second Hand Rose, Ten Years like One Day’s Forgotten Lovers” , afterwards he began to prepare for his first solo art exhibition.

In this exhibition we wanted to show the obedience and betrayal between the parallel lines of aging and coming of age. Life is a process of growing, and also of coming of age. We are used to thinking that we are from the “palace”, the entire time we try to find the egotistically fair, but long since assimilated “emergency exit”. Then in the far from complete “jigsaw puzzle “like memories we comfort our shortcomings. But in this exhibition, I have changed the order. You will first see the “jigsaw” and then go through the “emergency exit”, at last arrive at the “palace”. I hope that during this exhibition in reverse the viewer you can have some unexpected insights about everyday lives. This exhibition is entitled” Drop Around”, it means: that life an extremely simple one-time emotional process. No matter which door I will open, we want to let them know them that we are “well-intended” visitors.

Liang sees his work in philosophical and digital analogies wherein he comments on time, memory and the mysteries of life in general. In Emergency Exit; Red, Yellow, Blue, Green four separate artworks, Liang depicts his feelings about the Matrix, a memory from his school days.

Matrices in general are like motherboards, whose formulae one can apply in physics, quantum theories and computer graphics. In the latter, matrices are used to project a three dimensional image on a flat surface to produce depth and realism. Jigsaw’s pieces appear like a puzzle whose pieces can be mixed, pieced and re-arranged to create anyone’s subjective reality. Thus, in this sense it can be considered an interactive installation in which pieces out of Liang’s life can be interchanged with someone else’s or someone else can play God and re-arrange them into whatever time line they see fit.

Liang uses the word deletion in the title as a way of expressing the aspect of our life that is unattainable, unreachable and beyond our abilities to find. Like Plato’s analogy of the cave the reality revealed by our senses is only but an illusion, while the truth can only be found intellectually.

This exhibition will open to audience for free during June 18th to July 31th.
