A 4-year-old Australian girl is the latest rising star of the New York art scene. Aelita Andre’s paintings are selling fast at her Agora Gallery show in New York’s trendy Chelsea district.

No wonder she’s jumping for joy - a new young artist has the New York art scene buzzing.

Her paintings are big, bold and abstract. But what really impresses is the artist’s age - she is just 4 years old.

Aelita has been painting since she was 20 months old. Now some of her works are selling for thousands of dollars.

Called "Prodigy of Color", the show is full of her colorful canvasses, many of them with toys and trinkets attached.

The director of the Agora Gallery, Angela Di Bello insists Andre’s work stands on its own merit and that her age is not a gimmick.

Angela Di Bello, Director of Afora Gallery, said, "People are not simply buying the works because of who Aelita is but they are buying it because they actually are looking at the work and they are relating it, they’re connecting with the work."

With various objects like toy dinosaurs and plastic lobsters stuck tot the canvas, Andre’s big abstract paintings have names like "Butterfly Islands" and "Escape from the Cosmic Zoo."

For the 4-year-old, every painting tells a story.

Aelita Andre, 4-year-old Australian girl, said, "That is the river, that is boat with all of the rainbow birdies going to their mummy. That is the baby bird going to his grand mommy."

As of June 8th, the gallery had sold 17 of Aelita’s paintings.
