Gramercy Park Hotel
It was probably only a matter of time before Julian Schnabeldipped his gilded toe in the luxury hotel pool. The art world grand duomo designed the interiors, as well as several bronze pieces of furniture that bare his fingerprints, a giant new painting for the Jade Bar, and he even designed an Aubusson rug covering the entire lobby for luxury hotelier Ian Schrager and his hotel's grand reopening in 2006. The Gramercy boasts an impressive collection laden with big names that have even bigger price tags including Mr. Schnabel himself. All of the art is on loan from a private collection and is in constant rotation, on any given month guests can view pieces by Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol,Jean-Michel Basquiat, Richard Prince and Cy Twombly.
