青岛的海是明澈的，深碧醉人。有一次划船划到小青岛，看见礁石上的水草，一根青似一根，如海女之发。

　　青岛的海水也是非常雄壮的，有台风的那几天，我天天跑到礁石上看海。从那之后，我才明白我们离能控制海的时代还很远，我们的仪器和杠杆还不够。海在发怒的时候，船便不能走了，连锚都不能抛。

　　海是多么深奥啊，凡是陆地上有的东西，它都具备，只是没有陆地的平静和安详。海的性情是不定的，常常翻脸。大地便不同，大地的工作，是有定准的。

　　在五色土铺展的中国版图上，山东半岛的南端有一片令人瞩目的蔚蓝，尖喙般探向大海深处，它就是中国海拔0米的起始地——青岛。

　　青岛，三面绕碧海，一面翠屏山。夏有凉风，冬有暖流，不寒不暑，四季皆宜，“虽夏日炎炎，不敌海风拂拂，凉生轩户，迭送花香。沿海水而披襟，步山阴而却扇”自上个世纪初，就为中外游人所倾慕，“西人避暑，咸集于此”。游人或海上扬帆，或中流击水，或沐浴日光之下，或濯足浅浪之中，或拾贝岸礁之上，海水，沙滩，阳光，尽享大自然的慷慨赐予，海风拂面，凉意习习，夏日的酷热因为海而变得清爽而惬意。

　　崂山，拔海而立，山海奇观，天下第一。中国海岸线第一高度之雄姿，令古人发出“泰山虽云高，不如东海崂”的浩叹。崂山，兼有山海林泉之胜，囊括奇险秀朴之姿，奇峰突兀，怪石嶙峋，形神毕肖，堪称一绝。崂山余脉，自东南向西北腾空而过，把众多丘陵、台地播向市区空间，大小二十几座山头戴上“绿冠”，耸起一道道绿色山脊，岛城地貌因此而变得立体，起伏多姿，有了“城借山势，依山而建”的才智走笔。

　　On the colorful map of China, an area of azure lies across the Shandong Peninsula, looking out to the sea like a beak. This is Qingdao—the zero elevation of China.

　　Qingdao is endowed with matchless charm by the spectacular and splendid combination of mountains and ocean. No coastal city in China could surpass Qingdao in its harmonious coexistence of mountains, ocean and the city itself.

　　The distinctive geographic features of Qingdao are born out of the co-work by the sea and the mountain. The main range of Laoshan cocks up in the east to be the best-known mountain on the sea, while the remaining range winds all the way to the west till the east coast of Jiaozhou Bay. Consequently, the city is snuggled by the mountain in the north with the rest sides embraced by the sea. Skylines of the city rise high and low along the mountain and the sea. Qingdao has diverse bays, beaches and capes. Jiaozhou Bay, the largest of the 16 bays located in Qingdao, is where the deep water port –Qingdao Port situated. These bays, beaches and capes form the beautiful coastline of Qingdao. Looking down from the sky, the coastline is just like an inlayed shining golden necklace. The sea of Qingdao twists and turns along the coastline like a labyrinth. From the west to the east, bays connect with one other. Tuandao Bay, Qingdao Bay, Huiquan Bay and Fushan Bay impress people with their wonderful sceneries and beaches. Along the seaside, one can go all the way east into Laoshan. The changing view is never boredom.

　　Surrounded by Laoshan and the Yellow Sea, the climate of Qingdao is quite pleasant. It is neither too hot nor too cold all year around. The hot weather of summer time is no match for the cool ocean breezes. The city has been attractive for tourists at home and abroad ever since the beginning of last century. Sailing, swimming, sunbathing, or simply just waling in the shallow water by the beach, one can indulge himself into the generous gifts bestowed by nature. The hot summer weather is turned refreshing and lovely by the cool ocean breezes.

　　Laoshan stands magnificently by the seaside. It is the highest mountain along the coast in China. The ancients praised that Taishan, though higher, is no equivalent to Laoshan. Here, forests, mountains, ocean, and spring interweave with each other. Peaks and rocks resemble in various shapes. The minor ranges of Laoshan go from the southeast of the city to the northwest, leaving several hills in the downtown area. The city is built along with the verdant hilltops and ridges rising and falling here and there.
