A photo exhibition entitled "Tibet: Road to Heaven" opened here Friday, offering Thai people a glance into the beautiful landscape and mystic culture of China's Tibet.
The 16-day event, held at Siam Paragon department in central Bangkok, features 180 pictures taken by David Lau, a renowned and award-winning overseas-Chinese photographer, during his journey across Qinghai and Tibet in June last year.
"The exhibition vividly showcases the mountainous landscape and colorful customs of Tibet. It will serve as a window for Thai people to see more of Tibet," said Guan Mu, Chinese ambassador in Thailand, during the opening ceremony.
"I sincerely hope that more people in Thailand will know Tibet better through this exhibition and more of them could pay visits to Tibet and witness the tremendous achievements in its economic and social fields," he added.
Sixty pictures of the flood last year are also included in the exhibition.
The opening ceremony was followed by a spectacular Chinese New Year celebration sponsored by Siam Paragon to mark the long- standing cordial relationship between China and Thailand. It brought together Chinese-style cultural performances highlighted by Chinese acrobat dances and 85-meter-long Glowing Dragon show.
