这个版块叫图说天下，那我就从图片说明开始说起吧。

　　我在ChinaFotoPress工作了三年，之前我一直做国际新闻，后来转到现在的部门开始做英文，简单而言，以前我负责把英文的稿件做成本土化的中文，现在负责把国内的稿件做成英文。所以，这样往复的一个倒个儿，让我对国际和国内关于摄影师写图片说明的差异和差距深有感触，尤其是新闻图片。

　　关于图片说明，我不是今天一下子可以说完，虽然是一个很简单的问题。作为这个话题的开篇，我先给大家看看我们的合作伙伴，也就是世界最大的图片社Getty Images的新闻图片说明标准：

　　原文是英文，我在这里很严格的翻译成了中文，希望对大家有所帮助。

　　图片说明写作指导：

　　Getty Images的图片说明是基于新闻五要素的基础上拓展开来的，这五要素就是大家所熟悉的5个W，即谁，发生了什么，什么时间，哪里，为什么。原则只有一条，就是每一个图片说明都必须让用户了解到画面中所有的信息，画面中是什么人，甚至具体到人物是谁，他们的名字;他们在干什么;他们在什么时间干了这件事;这件事在什么地方发生;如果必要的情况下，需要添加相应的背景信息，解释为什么这件事情会发生。

　　为了让图片说明读起来更加一目了然，也更加便于阅读和理解，我们通常会在说明的最前面写上日期和地点，全部采用大写的英文字母。下面就是一个很好的例子，比如是2005年4月19日在英格兰的Bristol拍摄照片，紧跟日期的后面，我们会有一个冒号，然后两个字符的空格，我们的说明开始就是这样的：

　　BRISTOL, ENGLAND - APRIL 19: (double space)

　　而在美国，加拿大和澳大利亚，日期的写法会稍微有一点点变化，我们会用2到3个大写的可以代表这几个国家的字母来表示，比如美国就是USA，加拿大是CA。还有一些城市，我们可能也会简写，因为这些城市非常著名，不需要任何过多的注释。

　　日期之后，我们在真正进入图片说明的正文部分。下面给出一个例子：

　　Deputy Leader of the Labour Party John Prescott (劳动党的候选代表人物John Prescott，这一个词组不但指明了是谁，而且还说明了对方的职务) visits Bristol in the Prescott Express campaign bus (参观竞选班车，这句话说明了人物在干什么) on April 19, 2005 (2005年4月19日，这说明了具体时间) Bristol, England (Bristol，英格兰;这里指明了地点). During his visit to the St. Werburghs area of the city, he visited the house of Ernest Bevin, 1881-1951, the first General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU) and Labour Foreign Secretary (背景信息说明为什么).

　　看起来这是一个完整的图片说明了，但是千万不要忘了最后的，也是相当重要的，就是署名问题。

　　如果是Getty Images的摄影师的作品，我们的署名就是 摄影师名字/Getty Images，例如(Photo by Matt Cardy/Getty Images)

　　Caption Style Guidelines

　　The Getty Images caption standard is based on a system that we call the 5-W's or Who, What, When, Where and finally Why. The principle is that every caption will give the client all the information to tell the who is in the picture, what they are doing, when they did it, where it happened and if required a little background to explain why it all happened.

　　To make the caption more readable at-a-glance, we include a dateline at the beginning of the picture, written in all capitals to stand out, that includes the Where and When again without the year. For example, if a picture was taken in Bristol in England on the 19th of April 2005 the Dateline would be as follows followed by a colon and a double space:

　　BRISTOL, ENGLAND - APRIL 19: (double space)

　　When in America, Canada or Australia the dateline changes slightly, and we use the 2 or 3 letter state code instead of the country. There are also some cities that are so well known globally that they do not require further explanation. These are detailed later.

　　After the dateline we go into the actual caption. So to follow on the above example, if the picture showed John Prescott whilst he was on an election tour we would continue:

　　Deputy Leader of the Labour Party John Prescott (this is the Who) visits Bristol in the Prescott Express campaign bus (this is the What) on April 19, 2005 (this is the When) Bristol, England (this is the Where). During his visit to the St. Werburghs area of the city, he visited the house of Ernest Bevin, 1881-1951, the first General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU) and Labour Foreign Secretary (this whole second sentence is the Why).

　　The last part is the most important to any photographer, and that is the credit. We format it inside brackets with Photo by and then your name followed by a forward slash and Getty Images. And so to once again carry on our example:

　　我在这里用了这么大篇幅说图片说明，似乎有点煞有介事，但是问题就在于，我作为编辑，我在看我们库里相当多的摄影师上传图片的时候，说明都是或多或少有所缺失的，日期我们还能根据上传时间判断，但是对于图片中的人物，我们编辑是无法去猜测的，对于娱乐，财经，体育和重大新闻，这些事件里面往往牵扯人物比较多，如果没有仔细的人物说明，日后这张图片被客户搜索出来再利用的几率非常的小，而且也不便于日后自己查找，甚至可能会出现有的摄影师拍过这个人物，但是事隔之后，完全不记得自己拍过。无论从销售的角度，还是自己图片管理的角度，没有完整的图片说明的图片，价值总是会打一些折扣的。
