Kate Middleton clearly supports the Olympics. She has attended over a dozen events in the past ten days. Even the English summer weather hasn't hindered her valuable contribution to team GB as an official Olympic Ambassador.

The athletes and the public genuinely admire her dedication to sport. But what many people don't realise is that she is equally involved in supporting the arts in Britain. As patron to the National Portrait Gallery she has raised the profile of the institution, which has seen record numbers of the public attend shows like, the Lucian Freud painting exhibition, last spring. She also opened the current 2012 Festival sponsored exhibition, "The Road to 2012: Aiming High". This exhibition is the largest of the three-year summer cycle of shows and is stylishly staged across several contrasting spaces, throughout the Gallery. The show celebrates the people who have collectively made the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games happen, each exhibition has been displayed free to the public at the Gallery.

The Duchess of Cambridge has also given a massive boost to the UK retail index by singlehandedly kickstarting a British High street fashion boom. The down to earth Duchess has been a championing ambassador for this very British industry by purchasing ready to wear fashion off the racks, instead of commissioning the traditional Haute Couture worn by her predecessors.

Kate's other charity work also takes on Action On Addiction, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, the Art Room and as mentioned, the National Portrait Gallery. She is also a joint patron of Prince William and his brother Harry's charity. They recently changed the name of their personal charity to reflect Kate’s active involvement. Documents filed at Companies House show that the Foundation Of Prince William And Prince Harry is now known as, The Royal Foundation Of The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge And Prince Harry.
