The Art Dealers Association of America has assembled an aid program that will provide grants and loans to New York City galleries devastated by Hurricane Sandy, reports Allan Kozinn of the New York Times. In order to qualify galleries must show they have suffered “catastrophic damage that prohibits gallery business, drastically impaired cash flow, and demonstrated risk of a business’s permanent closure.” The first disbursements could be made as early as this week. Spokeswoman Sara Fitzmaurice states the association is planning a fundraising campaign to augment the initial fund, which currently consists of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
