Artforum reports that the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago has received $2 million from Marilyn and Larry Fields to support a curator position at the museum currently held by Naomi Beckwith, a former associate curator at the Studio Museum in Harlem.
Here’s Ms. Beckwith on the donation, from the magazine:
“It‘s an amazing validation of the work that I do on a daily basis while also making an investment in the MCA‘s future programming. I‘m so proud to carry their name into the art world.”
The MCA has had a bumper crop of donations recently. Just last month, Sam Zell and his wife Helen announced they will give the institution $10 million to create a Zell Fund for Artistic Excellence.
