Several New York arts nonprofits were forced to reschedule their annual benefits after Sandy.
The Kitchen, which sustained severe damage during the flood in Chelsea, will be hosting its Benefit Art Auction on Monday, November 26th at the Kitchen itself. “We have already poured concrete in the lobby and laid down a new dance floor in the theater, which is being repainted as I type,” wrote director Tim Griffin in an email yesterday to benefit committee members. More details can be found here.
On Thursday, November 29th, Performa will host its annual gala, “Relâche – The Party” at Stage 37 at 508 West 37th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues. There are multiple ticket levels available for the event, which includes a dinner and an after-party. And on Friday, November 30th, Swiss Institute will hold a live and silent auction with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
Additionally, a number of artists and institutions have rallied around some of those arts nonprofits hit hardest by the storm, including The Kitchen, Primary Information, and Printed Matter. Direct donations can be made to each of those organizations via their websites.
