The installation artist Alfredo Jaar will represent Chile at the 55th Venice Biennale next year, joining an already very solid group of artists, among them Joana Vasconcelos, Sarah Sze and Jesper Just.

The New York-based Mr. Jaar, who in 1986 staged a fairly provocative project in Times Square called A Logo For America, will work on the pavilion with his frequent collaborator, curator Madeleine Grynsztejn.
