Rare Islamic Art Collection On Display For The First Time At Bonham's Auction House

2013-01-10 08:34:29 未知

A rare collection of Islamic Art has made its way to Bonham's Auction House in Edinburgh this month, representing Scotland's largest private collection of its kind. Consisting of ancient amulet vessels, 12th century silk shoes, and lavishly adorned silver goblets, the dazzling array of relics would make any archaeologist giddy.

Most of the objects originated in the Land of Timur in Central Asia, showcasing the early art making trends of 11th and 12th century Turks and Soghdians. The many pieces of pre-Islamic and Islamic artwork have never before been seen in public, so now is your chance to feast your eyes on the ceramics, bronzes, books, furniture, paintings, textiles and coins that make up this 650-item collection.

Scroll through the images below for a peek at the glowing amulets and preserved manuscripts, which we can only hope were excavated by Dr. Henry Walton, Jr. himself. Let us know what you think of the rare collection in the comments section.
