Birgitta Augustin has been named associate curator of Asian art at the Detroit Institute of Arts, in the department of Arts of Asia and the Islamic World. Augustin has published widely on Chinese painting and calligraphy as well as Daoism in various museum and academic journals. She acted as research associate at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the department of Asian art from 2005 to 2010. She has also held positions at the National Palace Museum in Taiwan and the Museum of East Asian Art in Berlin.
