Fabien Naudan gets a promotion at Artcurial and is appointed vice-chairman of the auction house. He will therefore support the work of the two chairmen Francis Briest and François Tajan. His main task will be to develop the activity of the Impressionist, Modern and contemporary painting department, while keeping the management of the design department. Fabien Naudan joined Artcurial in 2002, after working for Paul Smith and A.P.C.; this lover of contemporary furniture creates the auction house’s design department, and establishes it as a leading player of the field in Europe. The new vice-chairman has never concealed his intentions and his will to modernise auction houses. For instance, on occasion of the auction “Black: Black in the Domestic Landscape”, the auction room was entirely covered with black paper, and he got the idea of printing the catalogue on mere newspapers. For him, each sale is unique, and becomes an event in itself. Artcurial’s choice is quite significant: the company thus shows its will to modernise ever more.
