According to Jori Finkel of the Los Angeles Times, the Getty has announced that the second Pacific Standard Time, scheduled for 2017, will have a Los Angeles and Latin American theme, or “LA/LA” for short. The 2017 sequel will follow the grouping of exhibitions held by around sixty Southern Californian arts organizations from 2011 to 2012, funded by some $11 million in grants from the Getty.

“The fact that nearly half of the population of Los Angeles has roots in Latin America is so profound that it warrants a major exhibition and research project with accompanying publications,” noted James Cuno, president and CEO of the Getty Trust. “These are complicated roots, over many generations, and relationships between the US and those antecedent countries have changed considerably over time, so we want to be respectful of those complexities.”
