谢稚柳《绘事十首》

  编者按:1975年10月,谢稚柳总结五十年来中国画创作实践经验,作《绘事十首》,形成自己系统的画学思想和理论。

  “春红夏绿遣情多,欲剪烟花奈若何。忽漫赏心奇僻调,少时弄笔出章侯。”

  “蜀山秦岭为攀留,燕范遗踪尚可搜。痴绝雾城年少客,寻常晓月误帘钩。”

  “刻意邀寻董巨盟,江山目染得奇兵。好收折屐堪重蜡,赶上江南及乱莺。”

  “梅竹聚禽河洛精,拒霜红粉度南英。细参绝艳银钩笔,不识元明莫论清。”

  “不如寻梦隋唐迹,何况高希六代风。久闷神皋千壁暗,流沙西度得灵通。”

  “高墨猿禽下墨枝,梁生牧衲一时奇。少耽格律波澜细,老去粗豪是本师。”

  “别开生面意如云,落墨江南张一军。绝叹新裁好骨格,鲍诗无鬼唱秋坟。”

  “落墨缤纷有信书,粲然遗说见清图。试回谨密归豪放,未委当时意得无。”

  “渤海苍涛塞北天,皖山云路粤江船。画图百派几星火,拨尽炉灰为眼前。”

  “深深柳密正莺啼,艳艳花浓照眼迷。信美人间春一片,枥边思跃绝尘蹄。”

  Ten Poems about Painting By Xie Zhiliu

  Editor' s Note: In October 1975, Xie Zhiliu summarized his practical experiences in Chinese traditional painting during his fifty years and composed “Ten Poems about Painting”, establishing his own systematic painting thoughts and theories.

  “The red spring and green summer are all entertaining, and how can I keep the beautiful scenery. Suddenly I saw the special tone which is so charming, so I learned painting from Zhang Hou (Chen Hongshou) in my youth.”

  “To depict the Shushan Mountains connecting to Qinling Mountains, I pursue the left traces of Yan Wengui and Fan Kuan. Addicted in this landscape painting in youth when I was in Chongqing, I drew the whole night till the morning when I even mistook the morning moon as the hook of window curtain.”

  “I sedulously learn from Dong Yuan and Ju Ran, and find my personal special style through my learning from nature. So excited to achieve such a good effect, that I believe my painting can be compared with the birds under Xu Xi's brushwork.”

  “Plum, Bamboo and Birds are the essence of Chinese culture, and red flowers resisting frost represent the essence of south China painting. I learn carefully the extremely charming brushstroke powerful and beautiful like a silver hook, and never mention Qing Dynasty before understanding the essence of Yuan and Ming Dynasties.”

  “Why not pursue dreams from master pieces of Sui and Tang dynasties, and the lofty style in the ancient six dynasties. Too long staying in the capital city and the mountains under my brush are not that brilliant, and then I got inspired after a trip to the west viewing Mogao Grottoes.”

  “Ink ape and bird on the upper part and branches on the down part of the painting, showed the amazing special style outstanding in an era. Refined brushstrokes showed the slightly varied ancient taste, wild openness and unrestrained feature are real teachers in old age.”

  Special taste expressed free spiritual significance, Luomo ink approach opened a new school in southern China. Amazing new style with good temperament is praised, and the great poet master eulogizes it being no longer sad.

  “The brilliant Luomo inking is gorgeously represented, in today’s fresh and clear painting. I try to transform from the refined style to a bold and unrestrained, not knowing whether the spiritual essence are well acquired or not.”

  “The grand wave of Bohai Ocean and the sky of the north boarder of China, the paths in the clouds of mountains of Anhui and the boats on the rivers of Guangdong; I draw all these sceneries with styles learned from hundreds of schools which were almost vanished, and swept all the ancient dusts to establish my new style for the present.”

  “Orioles are singing in the luxuriant willows, and the colorful blossoms are shining brilliantly. The spring of this world is so beautiful, and I'm in deep meditation beside the tree with my thoughts flying away.”
