240 Parodies of the Mona Lisa in One Giant Flip-Book

The Scottish artist and recent Glasgow School of Art grad Fraser Clark has compiled what may be the world’s closest-to-comprehensive compendium of parodies of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” — from Marcel Duchamp’s “L.H.O.O.Q.” to “Obama Mona Lisa,” “Mona Lisa Kitty,” and “Bubblegum Mona Lisa” — and turned it into a phone book-thick flip-book. See it in action below.
Titled simply “Mona Lisa” (2012), the collection of Giocondas is organized alphabetically by the images’ original file names, and forms a facsimile of the original painting along the tome’s outer edge. This isn’t Clark’s first exploration of the cross-pollination between internet art and pop culture; in 2012 he also created a series of silkscreen prints of images from the beloved primetime cartoon “The Simpsons” that resemble screenshots of Google Street View.
